South Korea’s National Pension Service (NPS)’ investment management division seeks to hire a head of its management support department.The NPS’ investment management division recently announced that it will hire a head of its management support department and kicked off the selection process. The new head will have a two-year contract while he or she can receive a contract extension on an annual basis based on performances.
In December of 2019, NPS’ board members decided to partially revise its operating policy of the investment management division. The pension fund has discussed about the revision internally since 2015 in a bid to increase its asset and strengthen investment diversification while the enhancement of the support department was part of the plan.
As a result, the NPS decided to hire heads of departments – management strategy, risk management and management support - at the end of last year. Three heads are placed under the umbrella of current chief investment officer (CIO).
The NPS recently appointed head of investment strategy Park Seong-tae as strategy department head and head of risk management center Kim Jong-hee as risk management department head. For the head of management support department, the pension fund has decided to hire through an open recruitment.
The head of management support department will manage overall investment management division, personnel management and external cooperation.
A person who has prior experience in fund managing related role, and has spent three or more years as a grade 4 public official; or has spent three or more years as a manager at domestic or foreign financial institutions; or has prior experience as grade 1 or above official at public institutions, is eligible for the application.
The pension fund will receive application until February 17. Applicants who pass the document screening will move on to interviewing process.
